Recall Of Hyundai Vehicles At Risk Of Fire
South Korean auto manufacturer Hyundai and affiliated manufacturer Kia have decided to recall over half a million vehicles due to the possibility of fire. There have been 15 reported cases where an engine has caught on fire which has led to the recall.
The recalled vehicles include the following:
- Hyundai Santa Fe SUVs (from 2013 – 2015)
- Kia Optima (from 2013 – 2015)
- Kia Sorento (from 2013 – 2015)
The engine fires can be caused by brake fluid can leak inside a hydraulic control unit for the anti-lock brakes, possibly causing an electrical short that can lead to fires.
Not only has the company issued a recall for these vehicles it has also recommended that owners store these vehicles outside until the repairs are completed. This risk of fire could be damaging to a garage in a home or apartment situation.
If you are unsure if your vehicle is covered by the recall you should contact your local Hyundai or Kia dealer immediately to make sure you do not sustain injury from the defect.
