Half of Connecticut’s Hospitals Penalized For High Infection Rates

Roughly half (15 out of 31) of Connecticut’s hospitals have been penalized for having high rates of patient infections and preventable injuries while patients were hospitalized. Their penalty is the loss of 1% of their Medicare payments.
The hospitals receiving this penalty are:
- Bridgeport Hospital, Bridgeport, CT
- Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington, CT
- The Connecticut Hospice, Inc., Branford, CT
- Greenwich Hospital, Greenwich, CT
- Griffin Hospital, Derby, CT
- Hartford Hospital, Harford, CT
- Central Connecticut Hospital, New Britain, CT
- UConn John Dempsey Hospital, Farmington, CT
- Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford, CT
- Mid-State Medical Center, Meriden, CT
- Rockville General Hospital, Rockville, CT
- St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT
- Stamford Hospital, Stamford, CT
- Waterbury Hospital, Waterbury, CT
- Windham County Memorial Hospital & Hatch Hospital, Willimantic, CT
