Five Minutes To Stay Safe This National Safety Month
June is National Safety Month. Safety can mean a whole host of things for you and your family. Keeping yourself and your family safe from Connecticut auto accidents, slip and fall accidents, bike accidents, and so much more.
Taking the time this month to review some of the things that can keep you safe will be time well spent to keep you safe throughout the coming summer months. We’re going to give you five minutes to quickly address common areas around your home that can cause injury so you can make sure that you have taken the appropriate steps to keep yourself and your family safe.
Set a timer for five minutes and get started on these five checks around your house;
- Check that the railings on all of your stairs are sturdy and not loose at all. If they are loose, fix them.
- Find your emergency kit and ensure that none of the items in it have expired. If they have, replace them.
- Change the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
- Ensure that the seatbelts in your car are fully operational.
- Make sure that all chemicals (cleaning, lawn, pool) are locked up and inaccessible for any small children.
While there are, of course, more things that can be checked throughout your house during National Safety Month, these five things can be done quickly and will make a big difference on the safety of you and the rest of your family around your home. Along the way you may find other issues that need to be addressed and can be added to a list to continually improve the safety of your home.
