Fall 2017 Hospital Ranking: How Did Connecticut Do?

The Leapfrog Group released its hospital rankings focused on transparency, quality and safety in the U.S. healthcare system. The scores were based on how well each hospital kept its patients safe from infections, injuries, errors and accidents.
In the spring, Connecticut hospitals ranked 36 nationally. This ranking period we are up six spots to number 30 nationally.
Hospitals that received an A grade:
- St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center, Hartford, CT (up from the Spring)
- University of Connecticut Health Center, John Dempsey Hospital, Farmington, CT
- Stamford Hospital, Stamford, CT
- Day-Kimball Hospital, Putnum, CT (up from the Spring)
- The William Backus Hospital, Norwich, CT (up from the Spring)
- Middlesex Hospital, Middletown, CT (up from the Spring)
- Bristol Hospital, Bristol, CT (up from the Spring)
Hospitals that received a B grade:
- Lawrence Memorial Hospital, New London, CT
- Windham Hospital, Willimantic, CT (up from the Spring)
- Griffin Hospital, Derby, CT (down from the Spring)
- Greenwich Hospital, Greenwich, CT (down from the Spring)
- Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington, CT (up from a D in the Spring)
