Connecticut medical malpractice can be caused when healthcare providers deviate from the standard of care and it causes a patient (or their loved ones, in a case of death) significant and permanent harm or injury. A study from a medical malpractice insurance carrier conducted some research on the claims they processed between 2014-2018. The results might be shocking.
- Of all the claims analyzed, 78% of them involved the actions of a healthcare practitioner during surgery.
- Twenty-seven percent of claims alleged a communication failure in the claim.
- Physicians were more likely to have an alleged failing of technical skill than their advanced practice provider counterparts
