Connecticut Auto Accident: Avoiding a Collision With Deer
Tuesday, December 19th, 2017 by Gayle Sullivan, RN, JD | Posted In: Auto Accidents
Depending on where you live and work in Connecticut, you may have seen wildlife along the roadways. Whether it is a larger animal like a deer, or a smaller animal like a raccoon or squirrel, Connecticut auto accidents can happen when trying to avoid a wild animal.
There are a few things Connecticut motorists can do to avoid a collision with a wild animal:
- A recent study by Farmers Insurance found that 64% of drivers think they should swerve to avoid a collision with an animal. This can cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle or hit a barrier on the side of the road.
- If you spot one, chances are there are others.
- Look for animal crossing signs and proceed with care. These signs are in the shape of a yellow diamond.
- Eye the eyes as your headlights might be able to catch their reflections in your headlights.
