Connecticut Auto Accident: Avoiding a Collision With Deer

Tuesday, December 19th, 2017 by | Posted In: Auto Accidents

Depending on where you live and work in Connecticut, you may have seen wildlife along the roadways. Whether it is a larger animal like a deer, or a smaller animal like a raccoon or squirrel,  Connecticut auto accidents can happen when trying to avoid a wild animal.

There are a few things Connecticut motorists can do to avoid a collision with a wild animal:

  1. A recent study by Farmers Insurance found that 64% of drivers think they should swerve to avoid a collision with an animal. This can cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle or hit a barrier on the side of the road.
  2. If you spot one, chances are there are others.
  3. Look for animal crossing signs and proceed with care. These signs are in the shape of a yellow diamond.
  4. Eye the eyes as your headlights might be able to catch their reflections in your headlights.

Always stay alert while behind the wheel to avoid a Connecticut auto accident. The attorneys at McEnery Price Messey & Sullivan wish you safe travels this fall.
