The short answer is yes. The Connecticut Department Public Health makes public any disciplinary actions taken by the state against licensed health care practitioners (including doctors and nurses) facilities (including hospitals and nursing homes) by the Department of Public Health.
These regulatory action reports are updated quarterly and they detail any violations and corresponding action taken by the State for offending practitioners and facilities. To look up a provider or facility,
- Visit the CT DPH website
- From the two options select whether you would like to look at regulatory action reports for individuals or for facilities.
- If you select facilities, the offending locations are listed along with the report from the DPH outlining Connecticut General Statutes and Agency violations.
- If you select regulatory action reports for individuals, reports are listed quarterly going back to 2010. These reports list individuals along with their violation and any restrictions placed on their license by the state.
While this type of research will not guarantee your safety when interacting with a doctor or hospital, it is an added layer of protection against potentially negligent hospitals or medical professionals.
