Babies Are Injured Far More Than We Think

A new study released shows something that all parents, whether brand new or experienced, fear. Baby products send roughly 66,000 babies to emergency departments around the country; which is roughly one baby every eight minutes. The data was analyzed over a 21 year span of time.
The data also revealed that 25% more ER visits occurred in the last eight years. A breakout of the injuries were the following:
- 80% of injuries were the result of the child falling out of the product including walkers, changing tables and bouncers.
- Of the injures where the infant fell out of the product, 20% of the injuries were out of baby carriers, 19% were out of cribs/mattresses, and 17% were strollers.
- Of all the injuries observed, 81% of them affected the neck, head, or face.
If your infant was significantly injured while using a baby product and you question the manufacturing integrity of the product, a Connecticut personal injury attorney like those at McEnery Price Messey & Sullivan may be able to help you.
