Whether you are traveling on one of Connecticut’s interstate highways, or local roads, driving with large trucks can be scary. It can be hard to maneuver around sharp corners and intersections. Many drivers are under the mistaken impression that they can only recover for injuries caused when a truck hits them directly. This is not true!
If you were in an accident with a large truck, let the attorneys at the McEnery Law Group thoroughly investigate your truck accident case. We will look at the medical and legal facts and help protect your long term interests.
If a truck driver is negligent and causes you to crash, the law still allows recovery for your injuries even if there is no actual contact between vehicles. The same true if the driver of a car is negligent, and causes the driver of the truck to crash and get hurt. Many people also think they cannot recover for pain or injuries from a motor vehicle accident with a truck unless the truck driver intentionally caused the accident. This is not true!
Connecticut law says that a driver who is simply negligent is liable to pay for pain or injuries that he or she caused to another person as a result of that negligence. Generally, you are also entitled to recover from the other driver even if you are partially at fault, as long as you are less negligent than the other driver.
If you are injured in a truck accident, the first priority is medical attention for yourself and anyone else who is injured. If possible, take pictures of the damage to the truck and cars involved as soon as possible. If you have a camera on your cell phone, have someone take picture at the scene. Most importantly, do NOT talk to insurance adjusters about the accident or about your injuries until you talk to us.
