‌3 Areas In Your Home Where A Connecticut Slip And Fall Accident Could Occur

Most often when we think about the possibility of a Connecticut slip and fall accident occurring in the area around our home, it is due to damaged sidewalks, but there are a number of other locations throughout your home that can be difficult areas and may cause an accident.

Of course we can never predict each place that could be a problem, but addressing certain areas in your home that could result in injury could help protect you from liability and in maintaining a safe home for you and your family.

  1. The bathroom.  When you mix water and tile floors it is often a recipe for disaster.  If not properly handled it could lead to someone slipping on the floor and with many hard surfaces in the bathroom such as the corner of the vanity, the toilet bowl, or the shower, a slip in the bathroom could have extremely dangerous impacts.
  2. The kitchen.  Another problem area is the kitchen.  Often floors in kitchens are made out tile or linoleum and when water or even dust gets on this type of floor it can present a real danger.
  3. Stairways.  Loose steps or loose railings can cause injury and present a real problem for anyone who is not sure on their feet or just isn’t paying attention.  When a stairway has a railing it may give someone a false sense of security and if it is loose it may give way and have dangerous impacts.

There are some things you can do to safeguard these locations.  On tile floors it may be a good idea to get slip resistant mats to put down.  This can mitigate issues you may have.  Barring that, you can certainly ensure that when there is a spill or just generally water on the floor that it is wiped up thoroughly before anyone enters the room.

When it comes to the stairways and preventing Connecticut slip and fall injury you should be inspecting and repairing your stairways each year to ensure that they are not dangerous for anyone going up and down.
