Nurses Disciplined For Drug Abuse And Photographing Patients
The State of Connecticut Board of Examiners for Nursing recently disciplined four nurses for different incidences involving separate violations ranging from drug and alcohol use to photographing a patient without consent. If any of the actions taken by these nurses deviated from the standard of care and left their patients permanently injured it may be considered Connecticut medical malpractice.
A Milford nurse had her license put on probation for 1 year and was fined $500 after she was accused of photographing a juvenile patient and sharing the photos without the consent of the child’s parents. The nurse was also accused of sharing clinical information about the patient.
In Berlin, a nurse was put on probation for four years after it was discovered that she abused alcohol, cocaine, and opioids in late 2019 and early 2020. She will be subjected to random drug screenings.
Another nurse in Newington also had her license put on probation for four years when it was found out that while in a hospital setting she was abusing hydromorphone, other drugs and alcohol. She was also said to have been diverting these drugs for personal use.
