Connecticut Medical Malpractice: Elective Surgery Complications

Even with an elective surgery, like a joint replacement, complications after a surgery can be scary, life-threatening and the result of medical malpractice. 3. Post-surgical infections. Whenever a patient undergoes a procedure, there is a risk for infection. Sometimes, however, a post-surgical infection can be malpractice. 
4. Injury to organs. During surgery, your doctor is generally repairing one organ. Frequently, an adjacent organ can be damaged or perforated. Sometimes this is a recognized complication and sometimes a failure to notice the damage is medical malpractice.
