CT Department of Public Health Fines 3 Nursing Homes

The Connecticut Department of Public Health is charged with oversight of buildings and industries that are used by the public such as hospitals, schools, and even nursing homes. The DPH recently fined three Connecticut nursing facilities that put patient safety at risk.

Long Ridge Post-Acute Care in Stamford was fined $3,270 after a patient with Alzheimer’s Disease was found lying on the floor on six different occasions. The nursing aides failed to follow the physician’s orders for supervision and intervention to prevent such an instance. In addition to the fine, the staff was reeducated.

Twin Maples Health Care in Durham was fined $3,060 after a dementia patient had a physical altercation with six other patients in the facility. The other residents were pinched, slapped, or pushed and some even required treatment for injuries like head lacerations

New London Sub-Acute and Nursing in Waterford was fined $3,060 after a resident hit another resident in the face after a psychiatric admission for doing the same thing to another patient.
