10 Ways To Prevent A Connecticut Truck Accident This Winter

Sunday, December 29th, 2019 by | Posted In: Truck Accidents

Encountering a large truck on Connecticut roadways can be nerve-wracking. These large trucks can travel fast and require a lot of space to slow down or stop. Additionally, they are heavily regulated by both state and federal agencies. Sometimes state and federal regulations are not followed and can be the cause of a Connecticut truck accident

Below are ten ways you can prevent an accident with a truck this winter.

  1. Pass safely by using turn signals and using the left lane. Never pass in the right lane.
  2. Steer clear of no zones. Large trucks have enormous blind spots – front, back, and sides of their vehicle. If you can’t see the side mirror, they can’t see you.
  3. Don’t cut it close. It is never a good idea to cut closely in front of any car, but especially  not a big truck.
  4. Stay back. Tailgating is always risky behavior. Commercial trucks are so high off the ground that if you tailgate you could slide underneath and the injuries would be catastrophic.
  5. Anticipate wide turns.
  6. Be patient and drive for the road conditions.
  7. Buckle up.
  8. Stay focused.
  9. Avoid drowsy driving. Make sure you are taking enough breaks.
  10. Do not drive under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
