Connecticut Medical Board Disciplines 3 Doctors

The Connecticut Medical Examining Board recently disciplined three physicians for failing to act in a timely manner and over-prescribing medication . According to Connecticut medical malpractice law, physicians who deviate from the standard of care and leave the patient permanently injured may be committing Connecticut medical malpractice.

Two physicians were fined $7,500 and $8,000 for excessively prescribing high doses of opioids to patients. The doctors, from Fairfield and Colchester respectively, were placed on 18 months of probation and one-year probation and reprimand, respectively, for their wrong-doing. 

A South Windsor doctor was fined $10,000 for failure to order PAP smears on a patient for six years after diagnosing her with cancer ten years ago.
