Connecticut Medical Malpractice & Primary Care Physicians

Connecticut medical malpractice occurs when a healthcare provider fails to properly diagnose a patient and that failure leaves the patient with a permanent, significant injury, including death. A recent study from a medical insurance provider reports that primary care providers have a high risk of medical malpractice claims due to the expanded role of their responsibility in patient care. 

This study found some interesting statistics on malpractice claims for primary care providers. Forty-six percent of claims came from diagnostic errors. Medication management by PCPs also proved to be an area of error as well as the handoff of care from one facility to another. 

It is important to know that not every incorrect or delayed diagnosis is Connecticut medical malpractice. Even if a healthcare provider does something wrong, the patient must have sustained a significant permanent injury (including death).
