A few days ago, we wrote about some springtime driving conditions that can cause Connecticut auto accidents. Here are five more ways springtime conditions can cause a threat to drivers.
- Worn wiper blades. Ice and snow can quickly wear down your blades. A good rule of thumb is to replace your blades each spring so they can handle the spring rain.
- Rain. Speaking of wet weather, spring is known for torrential downpours. Wet surfaces mixed with oil from vehicles can cause hydroplaning. Make sure you are going slow, maintain adequate tread on your tires, and your headlights are on.
- Hailstorms pop up during the spring months. They can be big enough to crack windshields.
- Bicyclists are out and about in the springtime. Make sure you give them enough space when passing.
- Springtime brings out animals looking for food, among other things. Animals can dart out into the road without warning. Make sure you are alert.
