What Connecticut’s New Drive-Only License Law Means For You
It is more difficult to recover damages in an auto accident with an unlicensed even if you are not at fault.
At the beginning of 2015, Connecticut implemented a new law allowing undocumented immigrants to acquire drive-only licenses. The law will allow any undocumented immigrant over the age of 16 to obtain a driver’s license.
The goal of the new law is to improve public safety to ensure that all driver’s on the road have been tested and know the rules of the road.
What does the addition of a potential 54,000 new drivers being added to Connecticut’s roads mean for you? These drivers will now be licensed, insured and ultimately will be driving registered vehicles. If you happen to get into an auto accident with a newly licensed driver who has also been required to get insurance, it will be much easier to file a claim against their insurance company and get the damages that you are due.
