Risky & Distracted Drivers Causing Connecticut Auto Accidents
The nation’s distracted driving crisis is getting worse as Americans are riskier than ever behind the wheel, according to a report from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. While talking on the phone is down, “drivers were observed manipulating their phones” 57% more in 2018 than in 2014.
The report estimates there were 800 fatalities from auto crashes in 2017 where drivers were doing something other than making a phone call. The research found that using your phone for something other than a phone call can increase your risk of a crash by 66%.
