Connecticut Auto Accidents: Commuters Spending More Time In Vehicles

Friday, February 8th, 2019 by | Posted In: Auto Accidents

It seems like our days are getting longer and longer. New data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows that commute times have increased in the last five years. Connecticut commuters spend an average of 26 minutes each way getting to work with the national average being 26.4 minutes.

Longer drives to work can mean less sleep for commuters and sleep deprived individuals are at an increased risk of causing a Connecticut auto accident. Drivers who sleep less than four hours are 11.5 times more likely to get in a car crash. The accident risk decreases with the more sleep a driver gets. Those who get six to seven hours of sleep were 1.3 times the risk.
