The U.S. News & World Report released its ranking of hospitals nationally. Two Connecticut children’s hospitals made the grade: Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. For a national ranking, a hospital must excel in caring for the most complex and sickest patients. YNHH and CCMC were ranked in the following areas:
- Pediatric diabetes and endocrinology: YNHH ranks 8th nationally; CCMC ranks 37th nationally
- Pediatric cancer: YNHH ranked 43rd nationally
- Neonatology: YNHH ranks 36th nationally
- Pediatric gastroenterology & GI surgeries: YNHH ranks 43rd nationally
- Pediatric neurology & neurosurgery: YNHH ranks 48th nationally
- Pediatric pulmonology: YNHH ranks 49th nationally
- Pediatric cardiology & heart surgery: YNHH and CCMC rank 49th nationally
- Pediatric urology: CCMC ranks 30th nationally
- Pediatric nephrology: YNHH ranks 45th nationally
