Connecticut Drivers Concerned Over Distracted Driving
In a recent survey by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, distracted driving topped the list of growing concerns by drivers. Eighty-eight percent of drivers believe that distracted driving is on the rise over other risky behaviors like:
- Drunk driving at 43%
- Drivers using drugs at 55%
- Aggressive driving at 68%
Nearly half of drivers, 49%, reported talking on a held-held phone while driving and nearly 35% say they have sent a text or email. Cell phone usage can increase the auto accident risk for drivers. On average, those using a cell phone took their eyes off of the road in the moments leading up to a crash and also failed to react more than half of the time before a rear-end collision.
