Connecticut Medical Malpractice: Bedsore Deaths Are More Common Than You Think

Saturday, June 17th, 2017 by | Posted In: Medical Malpractice

Connecticut medical malpractice occurs when a healthcare provider or facility deviates from the standard of care and it results in significant permanent injury including death. Pressure ulcers, commonly referred to as bedsores, take the lives of roughly 60,000 people in the U.S. annually.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), bedsores happen when the skin and tissue underneath starts to breakdown from prolonged pressure on the area. Bedsores often develop over bony areas of the body. This is a common injury for those who are bedridden or have a difficult time moving themselves.

Bedsores can be prevented so when a patient gets them and then has complications, this could be considered Connecticut medical malpractice.
