Here in Connecticut we have a beautiful coastline, rolling hills in Litchfield, and some truly amazing state parks, cities and towns. One area where we could improve is how doctor-friendly we are. A recent study puts Connecticut as the 45th most friendly state to doctors.
Despite the life-saving work doctors perform, those who practice in Connecticut are among some of the lowest paid among their peers in other states. In fact, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Jersey all join Connecticut at the bottom.
Connecticut doctors also face a medical board that is less punitive than others ranks 5th from the bottom.
The study was based on several factors including:
- Hospitals per capita
- Availability of primary care providers
- Starting salary, lifetime salary and competition
- Malpractice insurance rates
