Harvard Study Shows Female Doctors Outperform Males

A study recently conducted at Harvard University’s School of Public Health concluded that those patients who are treated by female physicians are less likely to die of what is making them sick and is less likely to need hospital readmission.
If all patients were treated by female doctors, 32,000 lives would be saved annually, the study reported. The reasoning for this is the approach female and male doctors take when treating their patients.
Here are some interesting statistics:
- 30-day mortality: 11% of female doctor patients died within a month of being in the hospital, compared to 11.5% of male counterparts
- Return visit to the hospital within one month: Female doctors had a 15% return rate while male physicians had a 15.5% return rate.
If you or your loved one was treated in a hospital or health care facility and question the level of care that led to a permanent disability, find out if you have a medical malpractice case.
