Stamford Day Care Center Wrongful Death
Tragically, a two month old infant lost her life while under the care of a Stamford day care center earlier in July. This child’s manner of death was investigated by the Chief Medical Examiner and found to be blunt force trauma to the head. The police are currently investigating this case to determine whether criminal charges will be filed against individuals and/or the day care center.
In addition to criminal charges in this very tragic case, the estate of this child may be able to seek Connecticut wrongful death damages. A wrongful death lawsuit can be filed when the death was caused (completely or partially) by the defendant; the defendant was negligent or strictly liable for the death, and there are damages to collect.
Damages can be sought for medical bills related to the treatment, the costs of funeral expenses, loss of earning capacity, pain and suffering as well as loss of life’s enjoyment. Connecticut’s wrongful death statutes of limitation are generally two years from the date of the death.
