It is no secret hospitals and health care providers are looking to streamline their processes. That also crosses over to the diagnosing and managing health care. The ECRI Group issued a list of the top ten health technologies where things can go wrong.
- Endoscope reprocessing. Endoscopes are difficult to disinfect. This creates a heightened risk for infection.
- Missed alarms. Whether fall alarms or monitors, there are many reasons an alarm can be missed.
- Opioid postoperative management.
- Inadequate telemetry monitoring of patients.
- Education or training for clinicians.
- IT issues
- Injection practices
- Mechanical failures of gamma cameras
- Ventilators
- Medical devices and USB ports
