Ways to Avoid a Pedestrian Accident
Tragically, a Bridgeport, Connecticut man was struck by a vehicle and later died at the hospital a few weeks ago. This pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection between Prospect and Myrtle Streets where the victim sustained serious injuries at the scene, was transported to the hospital and later died.
Connecticut law sometimes gives motorist and cyclists the right-of-way; this means that if a pedestrian is attempting to cross the street and he or she is not in a crosswalk, he or she must first let motorists and cyclist pass. Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians should all be aware of one another when sharing Connecticut roadways.
Here are a few ways to avoid a pedestrian accident for everyone that shares the road:
- Follow road signs and signals.
- Obey traffic laws.
- Stay alert.
- Yield as needed.
