Medical Malpractice From a GI Scope? It Can Happen
If you or a loved one are scheduled to undergo a gastrointestinal (GI) laparoscopic procedure, not only should you be asking your doctor these questions about his or her experience and your scope procedure, you are also within your rights to ask about the medical equipment that is going to be used on you.
1. How often is the equipment disinfected?
You’re hoping the answer is in between every patient.
2.Is the equipment approved by the FDA?
If so, great. If not, make sure it has the FDA’s 510(k) approval for pre-market equipment.
3. How often is the equipment inspected for safety/calibrated?
You’ll want to know that on a regular basis this equipment is being properly cared for and disinfected per the manufacturer’s instructions.
Spending the additional time to ask these important questions will help safeguard you against any issues that may arise from poorly cared for medical equipment.
If you or a loved one think there may have been medical malpractice during your procedure you may have a case and should use our tool to find out.
