hospital malpracticeIf you or a loved one is having a planned surgical procedure, there is no doubt you have or are doing your research on your surgeon as well as the hospital where the surgery is being performed. But it is important to know that not all hospitals perform equally.

A tool, provided by the Connecticut Department of Public Health rates Connecticut hospitals on over 15 health conditions and topics including childbirth, heart attack, infections, stroke, patient safety, deaths, patient survey results and more. Medical malpractice and patient safety are among some of the criteria this tool considers when ranking Connecticut hospitals.

Based upon hospital practice patterns and results of care, you can see if the hospital you are considering rates below average, average, or above average on a risk adjusted rating scale.  This tool can help you find a hospital that is especially good at treating your condition, and avoid hospitals that may not perform as well.

The lawyers at McEnery Price Messey & Sullivan want to remind you that it is within your patient’s rights to seek a second and third opinion on any diagnosis, including pathology. If you or a loved one was injured while being treated at a Connecticut hospital or healthcare facility, find out if you have a medical malpractice case.
