9 Common Medical Errors That Can Be Avoided

Medical errors that can be prevented Every body is different and will react to medical events in an individual manner. However, some medical situations are the direct result of doctor negligence or error. This is called medical malpractice.

Nine of the most common medical errors are:

  1. Obstetric errors/birth injuries
  2. Drug interactions
  3. Ventilator-associated pneumonia
  4. Bed sores
  5. Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  6. Blood clots
  7. Blood infections from a central line
  8. Fall injuries
  9. Infections at the surgical site
