Depending on where you live and work in Connecticut, you have seen wildlife along the roadways. Whether it is a larger animal like a deer, or smaller animal like a raccoon or squirrel, auto accidents can happen when trying to avoid a wild animal.
There are a few things Connecticut motorists can do to avoid a collision with a wild animal:
- Look for animal crossing signs and proceed with care. These signs are in the shape of a yellow diamond.
- Mind the shoulder as you may be able to see an animal on the side of the road.
- Eye the eyes as your headlights might be able their reflections in your headlights.
- Avoid swerving and choose to brake instead. Swerving may cause your vehicle to travel into another lane injuring other passengers on the road.
