If you are heading out on vacation or traveling for work and need to rent a car for your travel, there are a few things you should know first.
-
- Insurance. Call your current insurance provider and see if you are covered when operating a rental vehicle.
- Local traffic laws. If you are traveling outside of Connecticut, make sure you understand local rules of the road.
- Recalls. Before you sign off on taking a car from a rental agent, do a quick VIN check. You can locate the Vehicle Identification Number on the front of the dashboard near the windshield and on the side of the driver’s side door. Check your VIN here.
- Maintenance logs. Ask to see maintenance logs to make sure engines have been serviced as well as the tires and brakes.
If you are in a Connecticut auto accident in a rental car and the maintenance of the vehicle contributed to your injuries, the rental agency may be liable. Contact our firm to discuss your injuries and get help with your claim.
