3 Things You Can Do To Avoid A Connecticut Slip and Fall Accident On Ice
With winter weather comes the greater possibility of getting into a Connecticut slip and fall accident and injuring yourself badly. Icy walkways and poorly shoveled sidewalks present a recipe for disaster when it comes to the possibility of getting injured badly.
The good news is that there are some things you can do to prevent yourself from getting into a situation where you may get injured. Of course these measures aren’t guarantees that you won’t get hurt, but if you follow them, you will be safer this winter season.
- Wear the right shoes. It may be tempting to wear fashionable boots, but these boots generally provide little to no grip on icy or snowy conditions. Your boots should have thick treads that can keep your feet firmly planted on the ground and will not slide out from underneath you if you hit an unexpected patch of ice or snow.
- Walk with your hands out of your pockets. It may be more comfortable to walk with your hands in your pockets, but it can also be more dangerous. Walking with your hands in your pockets will not only throw off your balance when you hit a patch of ice, but it will also not allow you to react if quickly enough if you do happen to lose your balance.
- Walk around the ice or snow if you can. If there is a path that is clearer and less dangerous, you should take that path, even if it means walking a few extra steps. It might take you longer to get where you’re going, but at least you will make it there safely and in one piece.
